Position/Title: Biometrics Subject Matter Expert
Position Summary:
​
The Biometrics Subject Matter Expert will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing biometric systems for identification and security purposes within Salus’ global operations. This position requires extensive knowledge of biometric technologies, data privacy laws, and international standards for biometric systems. The SME will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that biometric solutions are reliable, secure, and meet regulatory and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Design: Develop and lead the design of biometric systems for use in diverse environments, particularly in developing regions.

Implementation: Oversee the deployment of biometric technologies, ensuring integration with current infrastructure and client requirements.

Technical Expertise: Provide in-depth expertise in various biometric modalities (e.g., fingerprint, facial recognition, iris scanning), and assess new technologies for potential integration.

Data Security & Privacy: Ensure all biometric systems are compliant with data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) and implement robust security protocols to protect sensitive data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with technical, operational, and international teams to integrate biometrics into existing systems and workflows.

Training & Documentation: Develop training materials and conduct sessions for staff on biometric systems and best practices; document workflows and processes.

Research & Development: Stay abreast of advancements in biometric technology and recommend innovations to improve Salus’ biometric capabilities.

Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in biometrics, with a strong background in designing and deploying biometric systems.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in biometric algorithms, machine learning for identity recognition, and experience with hardware/software integration.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with global data protection regulations and standards relevant to biometrics.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex biometric concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

International Experience: Experience working in international settings is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications: Relevant certifications in biometrics or data security (e.g., Certified Biometrics Professional, CISSP).
