Salary: $105,000.00 - $157,500.00 per year

A. General
​
This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position that will report to the Chief Operations Officer and
work closely with all departments to ensure company-wide compliance. The Legal Advisor &
Compliance Officer is a dual role that serves a unique position within the Atlas Management
Services group overseeing the compliance of several subcontracted organizations. The Legal
Advisor & Compliance Officer will interact with senior leadership and outside counsel to ensure
all legal matters are resolved and all assigned operations are complying within the regulation and
according to the terms of the government contractual agreement. In this role you will be provide
expert legal research, analysis, and writing on sophisticated/complex legal issues.

Measures of Success:

• Quickly identify potential threats, identify/detect vulnerabilities and potential exposure.
• Advise senior leadership on any findings or reports.
• Successful on-time, delivery of Ad Hoc requests.
• Ensure a high level of risk identification, risk mitigation, and contractual adherence.
• Anticipate company needs and legal project management.

B. Duties and Responsibilities:
​
• Handling legal matters, projects, or disputes for the organization, identifying/mitigating legal
risks, and ensuring that business practices adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
• Reviewing information and data, researching laws, regulations, and precedents, and preparing
recommendations. Assist in the management of outside counsel when needed.
• Acting as liaison between various parties such as other legal representatives, outside counsel,
organizations, internal staff and subcontractor employees.
• Compiling data from legal digests, internal/external systems, and other databases.
• Reviewing draft legal agreements, contracts, and other legal documents
• Assembling, proofing and editing drafts of contracts, leases, licenses, and policies.
• Preparing and filing legal documents with appropriate entities, as required.
• Conducting research on various projects as directed program leadership.
• Review and ensure compliance with regulations, policies, procedures or internal processes.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop legal strategies.
• Assist with the review and preparation of legal materials and applications or various other formal
legal proceedings. Implement and maintain risk evaluation and compliance management
processes. Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative
matters.
• Monitors and continuously assesses operations and progress toward organizational goals.
Develops new and innovative solutions for legal projects, activities and resources to anticipate
and mitigate risks that can have far reaching effects on operations, large groups of people, or
strategic plans.
• Monitors program performance for contract conformance and maintains continual reviews to
ensure that all terms and conditions are met and that the contract is in accordance with legal
requirements, specifications, and government regulations.
• Prepares and disseminates information throughout the organization regarding compliance,
modification, deviation, negotiation, and all other assigned tasks.
C. Skills and Qualifications
​
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Years of relevant legal experience in relevant areas of law, e.g., contracts, corporate,

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.
• Proficiency in legal research and use of legal databases.
